Climate Up Close

Meet a panel of climate scientists and put your questions to them yourself. Join us for a presentation and Q&A with climate scientists from Climate Up Close in the SECU Daily Planet Theater. Climate Up Close works to inform and elevate the national conversation on climate change by explaining the scientific consensus clearly, without partisanship or policy prescriptions. They challenge both denialism and fatalism—the opposing extremes that too often distort climate discourse. Their team of working climate scientists travels to communities across the country so that people can see the evidence for themselves and put their questions directly to researchers. Each event features a 45-minute talk that maps the landscape of climate knowledge, sorting impacts like heat waves, sea level rise, and hurricanes along a spectrum from well understood to genuinely uncertain. Following the talk, there is an extended Q&A and time to chat with the scientists one-on-one.
